Laparoscopic appendicectomy

What it is

Laparoscopic appendectomy has 3 ports. The umbilical port is for the camera. A port in the left iliac fossa, at Mcmuney's point but on the left, is for a grasper. The suprapubic port, 2 cm above the pubic symphysis, is also for a grasper. The steps are to identify the appendix in the RIF, to ligate the appendicular artery, and to cut the appendix.
