Anemia screening in children

When the screen is done in Oman

The Hemoglobin screen is not a separate test; it is two rows inside the Omani immunization table, and it appears twice:

• 9 months: Hemoglobin screen, and that row carries no vaccine at all. It is the only age in the table whose single entry is a blood test, and that is why it is asked about
• 18 months: Hemoglobin screen again, this time alongside MMR, an OPV booster and Vit A 200,000 IU

The ages on either side carry no screen, and they fix the two screening ages in place:

• At birth: BCG, HBV
• 2 months: Hexa (DTaP, Hep-B, Hib, IPV), PCV-13, Rota
• 4 months: Hexa (DTaP, Hep-B, Hib, IPV), PCV-13, OPV, Rota
• 6 months: Penta (DTwP, Hep-B, Hib), OPV
• 9 months: Hemoglobin screen only
• 12 months: MMR, Varicella, Vit A 100,000 IU
• 13 months: PCV-13 Booster, and a booster given as Penta (DTwP, Hep-B, Hib) on one page and as Hep-A on another
• 18 months: MMR, OPV booster, Vit A 200,000 IU, Hemoglobin screen, with Hep-A on one page and a DTwP booster on another
• 24 months: Hep-A second dose, and Influenza

The two screening ages, 9 and 18 months, are the same on every page that carries the table; only the vaccine entries at 13 and 18 months differ between them, so that difference does not touch the two ages themselves.
