What the card is

The 2020 Child Immunization Schedule in the Sultanate of Oman is a single card, and it carries more than vaccines. Two doses of Vit. A are written into it for the child, and the mother is given a dose of her own after delivery. Every line of the card has a Vaccine, an Age, a Due Date and a Given Date, so each entry is a dated visit and not only a list of names. A note on the same page says: HAV new in the card.

The two child doses of Vit. A

• At 12 months: Vit. A 100,000 IU. It is on the same line as MMR-1 and Varicella.
• At 18 months: Vit. A 200,000 IU. It is on the same line as MMR-2, the DTwP Booster, the bOPV Booster and the routine checkup of Hemoglobin - five entries on one line, and no other line of the card holds as many.

So the dose at 18 months is twice the dose at 12 months, 200,000 IU against 100,000 IU, and the two are 6 months apart.
