Meconium-stained liquor

What it is

Meconium-stained liquor, as the protocol defines it, is dark green or black amniotic fluid that is thick or tenacious, or any meconium stained fluid containing lumps of meconium. Continuous electronic fetal monitoring is advised on the basis of a risk assessment that covers the stage of labour, the volume of liquor, the parity, the fetal heart rate, fetal blood sampling in labour, and whether advanced neonatal life support is available for the birth.
