Indications for antenatal admission and fetal monitoring

Its stated purpose is the criteria for admitting pregnant women in the Antenatal Ward (Y2). Its scope is Yellow 2 (Y2) and other wards in the hospital, and the criteria it sets are two: admission of pregnant women in the Y2 ward, and admission of pregnant women outside the Y2 ward, especially in cases of bed crisis.

One number runs through the whole of it: 24 weeks of gestation. Only one line in the protocol stands outside that number.

• SCD: Sickle cell disease
• TPL: Threatened preterm labour
• APH: Antepartum hemorrhage
• IUGR: Intrauterine growth restriction
• PPROM: Preterm premature rupture of membranes
• CTG: Cardiotocography

Who is admitted to Y2

• Any women with current obstetrical complications.
• Women with medical complications requiring close fetal monitoring, at 24 weeks of gestation or more.
• Pregnant ladies undergoing abdominal or pelvic procedure at 24 weeks of gestation and above.
