Glycaemic targets for non-pregnant adults with diabetes

What it is

Three targets are used together for many nonpregnant adults with diabetes, and they are set out as one table, Table 6.3, Summary of Glycemic Recommendations for Many Nonpregnant Adults With Diabetes: A1C, the preprandial capillary plasma glucose, and the peak postprandial capillary plasma glucose.

The three targets

So two of the three are glucose values taken by the patient, one before a meal and one after, and the third is a percentage.

The same targets in the Omani guideline

The Omani targets for self-monitoring of blood glucose are written in mmol/L and carry the same two glucose values:

So a home reading taken before a meal is read against the band 4.4 to 7.2, and one taken after a meal against the single value of 10.0. Which of the two a reading is read against is decided by the meal it was taken around.
